From the very beginning, Lucy, the owner and Funeral Director, was simply incredible. She is one of the kindest, most compassionate people we have ever met, and she made what was an incredibly difficult time so much easier for my mother-in-law and our entire family. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and every request was met with warmth, patience and genuine care.

Together with Nuala, who led the service so beautifully, they transformed what could have been an overwhelmingly sad day into a truly heartfelt celebration of life. Lucy has just been my funeral director for my dad’s funeral and honestly she has become a friend.

The whole process is very daunting and you feel like you’re on a rollercoaster of what to do. Lucy made us feel at ease and helped with the very sensitive situation.

My dad lived with us for many years so his loss was a huge impact on not only my life but my children’s lives (aged 5, 12,14 & 18)and Lucy helped me get through this difficult parenting situation of how to cope with my children’s grief by allowing us as a family to come to her chapel and let the children do what they felt was right and comfortable with. She suggested sitting with the coffin with the lid on which I think really helped my younger two to understand, without scaring them which I felt I might not have thought to do without her guidance.

Lucy was at the end of the phone if I needed her and supported us all right up until his burial yesterday. Walking my dad up through the high street for his last time, which will stay with me forever.

Our Mum’s final day didn’t go according to plan, it was 100% better! Lucy was thrown into the deep end at the very last minute – (bless her) – as our priest didn’t turn up!

Lucy led the funeral service organisation for my father in August. She enabled us to have a service which both celebrated and perfectly captured his long, happy and varied life. Importantly, she was able to help us do so in less than 2 weeks, as we needed to organise a service promptly to accommodate family and friends’ planned leave.

Lucy was easy to deal with, easy to contact, and very quick to respond. All details were taken care of, and we felt listened to and consulted at every point. This made the whole process very straightforward, which was important given the situation! Any questions we had, Lucy was quick to answer. The service was attended by family and friends from across the UK and Lucy was able ensure it was streamed live. This meant family and friends living in the UK and overseas who were not able to join in person, were able to join us remotely. Since then, we have received many messages saying how the service perfectly captured Dad’s ‘essence’.

Sadly and unfortunately this was our 3rd family funeral in almost as many months. Gladly and fortunately we found Lucy and White Feather Funerals.

From start to finish, beginning with phone calls and emails, the warmth received struck a chord. Everything was explained simply and straightforward with no complicated dialogue. Proceedings and meetings were all done at our pace without any pressure of pushing things to get done.

Lucy’s premises are away from the glare of passing pedestrian traffic and being greeted with a warm compassionate smile was an amazing way to start proceeding with the task ahead.

People are in the dark about what to ask for or what to expect but Lucy will guide you through the entire process, giving suggestions and pointers of what you may wish to do, these are not set in stone and you may alter and vary the proposals put in front of you with Lucy adapting to your requirements.

I don’t think Lucy ever sleeps as I’ve sent emails early in the morning and late at night and always got a reply.

All 3 funerals, despite the sadness, have all been turned around into the day of celebration of a life which they should be and all with the huge input, hard work and ‘ from the heart’ warmth and compassion from Lucy.

In the nicest possible way, I hope not to see her in a professional way too soon.

I first met Lucy from the ‘female-led’ White Feather Funerals a few months ago – quite by accident as it happens, while I was walking past her shop-front, aware as I was that I may shortly need to choose a funeral director. Lucy was immediately friendly, comforting and supportive, and my wife Barbara readily agreed that we should ask Lucy to direct her funeral when that became necessary. In her professional life Barbara had always been highly supportive of women getting back to work – after taking time off with their family, for example – and in particular women who were working in male-dominated businesses. So when the time did come, Lucy was the obvious choice. Very shortly after Barbara’s death on 27th May 2023, Lucy had all the funeral arrangements firmly in place. She left nothing to chance, organising everything that needed to be done, kept me fully informed throughout, and reminded me of things that had never occurred to me to be done. I first met Lucy from the ‘female-led’ White Feather Funerals a few months ago – quite by accident as it happens, while I was walking past her shop-front, aware as I was that I may shortly need to choose a funeral director. Lucy was immediately friendly, comforting and supportive, and my wife Barbara readily agreed that we should ask Lucy to direct her funeral when that became necessary. In her professional life Barbara had always been highly supportive of women getting back to work – after taking time off with their family, for example – and in particular women who were working in male-dominated businesses. So when the time did come, Lucy was the obvious choice. Very shortly after Barbara’s death on 27th May 2023, Lucy had all the funeral arrangements firmly in place. Caring, Loving, Supportive and Professional.

I first met Lucy from the ‘female-led’ White Feather Funerals a few months ago – quite by accident as it happens, while I was walking past her shop-front, aware as I was that I may shortly need to choose a funeral director. Lucy was immediately friendly, comforting and supportive, and my wife Barbara readily agreed that we should ask Lucy to direct her funeral when that became necessary. In her professional life Barbara had always been highly supportive of women getting back to work – after taking time off with their family, for example – and in particular women who were working in male-dominated businesses. So when the time did come, Lucy was the obvious choice. Very shortly after Barbara’s death on 27th May 2023, Lucy had all the funeral arrangements firmly in place. She left nothing to chance, organising everything that needed to be done, kept me fully informed throughout, and reminded me of things that had never occurred to me to be done. She also recommended a celebrant, Mark, who was also very supportive, efficient and helpful. In the event, the funeral was perfectly organised by Lucy, left nothing to chance, was a very wonderful and fitting service for Barbara, and a genuine tribute to her life. I would have no hesitation in recommending Lucy and White Feather Funerals to anyone who needed such a caring and loving and supportive and professional Funeral Director.
